BRONXWIDE WORK
“The Bronxwide Plan is a socio-political platform that supports economic democracy, racial justice, community wealth-building, and self-determination for the Bronx.”
The two images are reinterpretations of Milton Glaser's ubiquitous "I Love NY" logo. Instead of NY, they center the Bronx with hands in solidarity and a map in place of Glaser's heart icon. They are intended to read as "I Plan Bronxwide" and "A Bronxwide Plan" and just as recognizable as the referenced original.
This carousel/series served as an intentionally campy PSA inspired by vintage horror films and shared on Halloween 2022. It's premise was to figuratively vilify the literal inequities of the Bronx and personify its residents and The Bronxwide Plan as a remedy for vanquishing these ills. The images were made to appear older, but the issues are present-day, further emphasizing the focus on these foundational needs.
This carousel/series repurposes and contextualizes standout quotes from a Norwood News article about The Bronxwide Plan. It centers the plan by synthesizing a linear, community-led history of the Bronx. Archival photos from one of the Bronxwide Coalition member organizations, Banana Kelly, and the New York Times serve as visual support for the people-centered timeline.
This timeline contextualizes the phases of The Bronxwide Plan. The actual organizing and planning was in need of a visualization to clarify the process for members and the wider public. It's titling, color blocking, and numbering serves to educate and inclusively galvanize the multi-organizational body of the plan's coalition.
